St. Francis Dormitory |FA_18
The project was Archived among other student projects by the School of Architecture.
The dormitory for St Francis acts as an introverted dwelling system by providing self sufficient units to each of the 140 occupants. Utilizing the industrial history of Brooklyn as an adaptive reuse precedent, the existing building of 8 old Fulton is made into a fabrication facility open to the students of St. Francis as well as the general public.
Students are able to utilize the open hallways as occupiable studio spaces, hence blurring the lines between public and private while still keeping them as discrete entities.
